There have been YouTube Meetups, but never one in America's most exciting city, Oakland, California. The Oakland YouTube Meetup at Lake Chalet at 1520 Lakeside Drive in Oakland, and is on Saturday, December 12th 2009 from 2 PM to 5:30 PM. What's the plan?  To meet, eat, and video!  But the idea is to meet YouTubers from all over and especially Oakland, San Francisco, and Northern California.   But it's also a party for non-YouTubers to learn more about how YouTube and YouTubers can help promote their business; you learn by watching us in action and mingling!  It's also a YouTube contest with prizes for the person who uploads their video the fastest.  Join me and other YouTubers like Sarah Austin for a cool event in a really awesome place: Lake Chalet: Visit our Facebook page here . From The Examiner: Gar and Lara Truppelli already run restaurants along some of the most beautiful square footage at Ocean Beach and Golden Gate Park, and now they are expanding to Oakland's 100-year-old Lake Merritt Municipal Boathouse. From Tablehopper: Also in the 510, things are getting close with the ~LAKE CHALET~ in Oakland, opening in the 100-year-old Lake Merritt Boathouse on August 17th. As you may have surmised by the name, the owners are Gar and Lara Truppelli of the Beach Chalet Brewery & Restaurant and Park Chalet Garden Restaurant/San Francisco. The executive chef is Jarad Gallagher, most recently at One Market Restaurant. The menu will include offerings from a raw bar, Dungeness crab cakes, petrale sole "piccata," and BBQ baby back ribs. - MORE .

Oakland’s dining scene has been buzzing over the past year and here's some more good news: Gar and Lara Truppelli (owners of the Beach Chalet Brewery & Restaurant and Park Chalet Garden Restaurant in San Francisco) announced an August opening for their new restaurant located on the shores of Lake Merritt in the historic 100 year old Lake Merritt Boat House. SF Chronicle's Michael Bauer loves the Petrale Sole Piccata! He writes: "When it comes to main courses, petrale sole piccata ($21.95) shows (chef Jarad) Gallagher's cooking chops. The thin fillets are crusted in Parmesan, which becomes nutty when browned, then set on potato puree surrounded by a buttery foam and a crunchy nob of watercress."

OAKLAND—The upcoming Lake Chalet has found itself an executive chef in Jarad Gallagher, last seen at One Market. The 400-seat East Bay offshoot of Park/Beach Chalet is now slated for August. Until, there are plenty of renderings on the Chalet site. ( More )

Jarad Gallagher Jarad Gallagher will man the kitchen when Oakland’s Lake Chalet opens in August. Lake Chalet will be the first East Bay outpost for Gar and Lara Truppelli, who also own Beach Chalet and Park Chalet in San Francisco.
